Tanya Deschambault is a Métis female author and mother of two who lives in a small town on Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada. She began her post-secondary education as a Fine Arts major but changed directions and completed her first degree in Gerontology through Laurentian University. Following this, she went on to complete a post-undergraduate degree in Social Work and has been a registered Social Worker in the mental health field for well over a decade.
As someone who has always struggled with anxiety, she immediately recognized it in her children early on. Her son struggled going to school for the first two years of kindergarten and each morning was filled with tears, making it completely heart breaking as a parent.
One day in a desperate attempt to console her son and satisfy the anxiety inside him, she made up a story about a special bracelet that could "absorb" a parents' love. She told him that she wore it close to her heart so that it would be filled with her love, and he could wear it all day. Her son is now almost 9 years old and since that day has never taken the bracelet off and his anxiety about school faded from that day on.
Soon after she came up with this idea, Tanya began her creative journey to write a book that would capture the message about childhood anxiety, specifically separation anxiety, in a way that both kids and parents would find relatable and heartwarming.
Follow her on Instagram and Facebook for behind the scenes of her life, including the making of the book, child anxiety resources and fun day to day life as a regular mom.
